Harrods

Today we are going to Harrods.  I could live in this store.  It has everything- at least a dozen restaurants, groceries (not like any I've seen in California, men and women and children's departments as well as everything for the home and travel.  We are fortunate there decorations are up for Christmas.

Lunch was in one of their many restaurants- the Pizza House which wasn't like any we have in California.  They serve wine and the "chef sang O Solo Mia in his wonderful tenor voice.  They have more than just pizza on the menu- Ihad raviolis to die for.

Later in the afternoon we went to the ice cream shop where I had spaghetti ice cream (vanilla put through a ricer topped with raspberry sauce.

Karen had a 'small" sundae.

We hit the grocery section on the first floor before we left.

London

Getting to London was not the best experience.  At the airport Karen had to be wanted due to her knee surgeries Her passport and ticket were in the basket beside her and got misplaced.  Then we had hoped to get a snack as we were early but got up to the boarding area too soon and nothing was available.

However the flight was short and the hotel in London is beautiful.

We had Cod and Chips soon after we arrived and a wonderful pudding- Granny Smith Sticky Toffee Pudding.  It came with a wonderful sauce.  Actually it had dates in it instead of apples which was a little puzzling??? But it was so wonderful I asked for the recipe and the waiter asked the pastry chef who surprisingly gave it to me.

The only thing was it made an enourmous batch.  I will have to cut it down when  I get home.

We plan to take a city tour tomorrow since Karen has not been to London before and I had once been on the Hop On, Hop Off bus which was fun.  Karen opted to not hop off but we did get a pretty good view of the main sights from the top of the bus.  The day was crisp but clear.  Cranes are everywhere here.  Big Ben is totally wrapped up.  Paul would be impressed by all the cement trucks at the multiple construction sights.

Since it is late November the streets are decorated.

Last Full Day in Paris

Today is our last full day in Paris.  We walked over the river to have our morning coffee at Cafe Flor.
The waiters were charming and dressed to the nines.  This is my favorite photo of Karen.

It is not raining today  Good!  Yesterday was nice too but today is especially important because tomorrow we leave for London.

We are on the second floor of the Hotel du Louvre.  The elevator has stopped working- perhaps the reason is due to the renovation of the hotel.  But it is probably good exercise since we are eating so many desserts.  We had rolls and coffee at the Flor then headed down the Boulevard St Germaine to do last minute shopping.  I sent out laundry before we left the hotel.

Lunch was at Louise's Afterward we returned to the hotel briefly and made reservations at Coupe Choux for dinner.

We both ordered Beef Bourgogne which was fabulous.

For dessert we each ordered a Napoleone.  It was quite a bit larger than either of us expected.
It was six inches high with each layer as large as a slice of bread.

However the party of 4 next to us were so impressed they each ordered one.

We took a cab back to the hotel.  The elevator is still broken so hopefully we walked up the 2 floors working some of it off.

The next morning the elevator still wasn't working but now the hotel employees are letting us use the service elevator.

Off to London
