The Two Martha's Green Beans
I moved back to Mammoth Lakes a month ago. Boxes were everywhere- an almost overwhelming task to move furniture and files from two houses to one. The kitchen. perhaps the most important room to me of all is still not totally finished. There are many duplicate pots and pans, etc. My first trip to the grocery store was unorganized in terms of what I needed- not like me at all. I like green beans and they looked good so I put some in my cart as well as grape tomatoes which looked bright and inviting. Both sat in the kitchen refrigerator for several days.
When I finally felt I needed to use them up I thumbed through my forwarded copy of Martha Stewart Living. In it was an article called "Fresh off the Vine". One of the recipes called for green beans as well as cherry tomatoes. I had grape tomatoes- close enough I thought. It also called for Manchego cheese- a variety of cheese I had never used. I went back to the store for the cheese.
It was so good, I am going to have it come Thanksgiving. Meanwhile it will be a favorite side dish for me. I encourage my readers to buy a copy of Martha Stewart Living (September 2020) and find the recipe for "Green Beans with tomatoes and crispy breadcrumbs".
