Soup for a Rainy Day

The windows in the kitchen have pull down shades.

They seem to have a mind of their own like a spoiled child.  There are 4 of them in the kitchen in a row. I pull them down when it gets dark.  This morning like always I place them at "half mast" to open up the view.  Ten minutes later the one on the end flew up to the top of the window with a loud thud in protest.

This was the view outside.  - not exactly the kind of day I was looking forward to.  I did some laundry.  Eileen, my absentee hostess had a fold up clothesline in her laundry room. Thank goodness for that!

When lunchtime came it seemed like a day for soups.  I had some homemade croutons that I had made from a baguette and a package of Knorr Leek and Onion Soup Mix.

It wasn't exactly a gourmet meal but it seemed appropriate.

At very least I like to think the potatoes were Irish (before Knorr dried them).

It seems like a good day to bake cookies.
