A Friend Comes to Visit

Last week my friend Karen came to visit from Arizona.  She drove her new car which I had not seen and arrived a little earlier than I expected considering the distance she had driven.  She too was surprized to see the time.  It turns out that they do not go on daylight saving time and so the time worked to our advantage.  It was just in time for lunch and we went to the Chart House on the coast.  We started with a sharable Chinese Chicken Salad. The backdrop of the salad was a won ton wrapper shaped into a shell- Beautiful!!!We also got a prime view of the ocean.

The following day we went to Del Mar- to the plaza.  We walked around the shops and had lunch over the coast on the upper level of the plaza at the Chart House.  

Today we finished lunch with a sharable dessert.  One more day of fun shopping and catching up on our lives.  We had been teachers together at Roosevelt JHS in the 60's. . I taught foods and she was the Art teacher.  We have been friends ever since.  

On the last day of her visit we decided to go to Rogers Gardens in Orange County.  They have a beautiful nursery there with a fabulous gift shop which already was featuring their latest Christmas displays.  We ate at the restaurant in the gardens. On her last visit we had also come here but that day it was raining hard.  We sat outside anyway and this day we had the same waitress whom we thought was great.  The champagne helped.  

 

My salad was excellent and  dessert.but the special dish was dessert.

All good things must come to an end and so she is now back in Scottsdale but we have good memories and probably gained a few poiunds.  Next time- who knows where we will get together but we always have fun and GOOD EATS!
